Before You Book... Your Private Wedding Dance Questions Answered | Your Romantic First Dance

Traditional & Non Traditional Wedding Dance

Congratulations to Justin and Abby

Congratulations on your engagement and thank you for considering Romantic First Dance. Together we’ll create your dream Traditional or Non Traditional Wedding Dance.

Rae’s couples have danced barefoot on the beach and in grand ballrooms. Private Wedding Dance Lessons are designed to be stress free. My prices are generous and unlike the big studios, you will not have to share the dance floor with other couples. Take a look at some of the Frequently Asked Questions below.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should we start taking lessons?

Every summer I get dozens of emails from couples who decided they want to feel good about the wedding dance instead of just hoping they make it through it. You deserve to have an amazing day and that includes an amazing dance. It doesn’t have to be choreographed. It’s best to have your Introductory Wedding Dance Lesson at least 3 months before your wedding date.

Where are you located?

Lessons are offered In Studio and In Home.

In Studio lessons take place at 1 of 2 Midtown Manhattan locations (1026 Avenue of the Americas and 305 West 38th Street).

Depending on your scheduling needs lessons may also be arranged at 131 West 72nd Street.

In Home lessons are available in Manhattan.

In Home lessons  are also available in Oyster Bay (NY), Long Island (NY), Dobbs Ferry (NY), Fairfield (CT), and Stamford  (CT) for an additional travel fee.

Can you teach in my home?

Lessons are available In Home and In Studio.

In Home lessons can take place in your living room, building fitness room, garage, or any space that will allow for movement. Though I will bring a portable speaker, these lessons are best if done indoors and on a wood floor.

In Home lessons are available in Manhattan.

In Home lessons  are also available in Oyster Bay (NY), Long Island (NY), Dobbs Ferry (NY), Fairfield (CT), and Stamford  (CT) for an additional travel fee.

What Happens During the Lesson?

The Introductory Lesson will give you all the tools you will need  to not only have  a better idea of what you want your dance to look like, but also an idea of whether I’m the right coach for you. Every lesson after that will be used to craft your dance. Your ideas are welcome even those crazy ideas.

The 90 minute Emergency Lesson is available to those who have a song selected, less than a month before their big day and are ready to work. You will not leave with a perfect dance, but you will have an outline of what your dance will look like. You will leave with video of your routine to practice on your own.

My Wedding is over a Month Away, when should I start taking lessons?

My Wedding is Less than a Month Away, is it too late?

While most of my clients book in advance, I understand that sometimes planning your dance can get lost among all the other wedding planning task. 1 month is still plenty of time.

Wedding  in 2 weeks? No problem. I’ve helped couples with only 48 hours to prepare. We will work with your natural instincts to create an dance guests will be raving about.

Do you work with Same Sex Couples?

Yes. All Genders and All Ethnicities are welcome. I love weddings and I love dancing. Let’s get this love train going.

We don’t know what song we  want, can you help?

Yes! Bring your list of songs (limit is 5) and we will dance it out. This usually will help you pick the right song. No list? No problem. I can still help give you song ideas beyond the songs you’ve heard at every other wedding.

Rae was a fabulous dance teacher! My husband and I had never taken a lesson in our lives, but Rae was able to transform us...
