Traditional Dance, Surprise Dance and more

Weddings are a beautiful mixture of love, music, dancing, and laughing. Whether you are looking for a simple and elegant dance that will let you glide across the dance floor with ease, or an upbeat crowd roaring fun time, I am happy to assist.

Types of Dances

I always encourage couples to pick a song that matters to them as opposed to a song that is recommended by others. When you hear that song and think back on your big day, would you rather be smiling and thinking "this is our song" or eye rolling and thinking "how many weddings did we hear this song at?" Below is a list of some basic types of dance commonly found at weddings and the songs styles that match. I often mix dance styles with my couples to help them create a unique routine.

Wedding Dance

Slow Romantic

Dance Styles: Slow Fox Trot, Foxy, Rumba

Non Traditional Wedding Dance

Surprise Dance (Mixing 2 songs)

If you both can't agree on a song, why not mix 2 songs? Surprise dance routines usually start with a slow song, then transition into something more upbeat. Yes you can mix more than 1 song, but the more songs you mix, the longer you are dancing.

East Coast Swing

Swing dancing is fun, upbeat, and works with a lot of different songs.

Hip Hop

I don't really recommend break dancing for your first dance together at a wedding, but we can create some hip hop magic to some of your favorite R & B songs. Think songs like Do Woop (That Thing) by Lauren Hill.

Contemporary So tell me a little about yourself. Let's take who you are and find the right dance moves to showcase your love for one another. No rules. Shoes are optional.

Gothic Think the haunting lyrics of Depeche Mode or Siouxie and The Banshees. Romantic and grand, you'll learn moves that you can take to the club dance floor anytime.

Tribute Fun Think the Hand Jive from Grease. A Tribute Dance can be fun and bring something high energy to the room even with participation from the wedding guests-- without turning it into a performance or a joke. When done right, everyone has fun and who knows you could be the next YouTube sensation.

Yes we can create a dance for the whole wedding party. Yes you can surprise your loved with a "special routine." YouTube recreations can be tricky and rarely match what you envision especially if your dancers don't really want to do the dance. Use YouTube for inspiration instead of recreation and I will be more than happy to help you refine your masterpiece.
Mother -Son dance. Father-daughter dance. Mother- daughter. Father-Son. No matter what combination you wish to feature at your dance, I am happy to help the two of you dance together comfortably and free of stress.
